    Job Summary: 

    Under general supervision and direction of the Facilities Manager, the Facilities Laborer assists in maintenance, cleanliness and beautification of Redbud District and other areas to provide a positive experience for citizens and visitors. Perform duties to maintain the City’s vegetation within the Redbud District, facilitate the preparation and use of the Redbud Festival Park, and perform routine inspections of restroom cleanliness of the City’s parks.



    $13.00 per hour



    Pro-rated Sick, Vacation & Holidays, no insurance benefits



    Monday – Friday, 20 hours per week typically during morning hours, schedule to be determined

    May require occasional weekend hours


    Essential Functions:

    May include but not limited to:

    • Operate lawn care equipment, i.e. mower, weed-eater, edger, blower, hand tools
    • Assist in horticultural management and upkeep of vegetation such as trees, shrubs and garden areas
    • Maintain cleanliness of grounds by removal of litter and other debris
    • Maintain cleanliness of restroom facilities
    • Assist with special events which may require working weekend days
    • Provide professional, courteous service at all times to citizens of the City of Owasso
    • Be alert for conditions or situations that need attention in the maintenance of Redbud District and other areas, and make recommendations for solutions
    • Operate City vehicles



    Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
    • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills
    • Organized and detail oriented

    Preferred Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

    • Experience in operating and maintaining small construction equipment
    • Horticulture knowledge and experience in maintaining horticulture and irrigation


    Working Environment and Physical Requirements:

    Work will be performed mostly outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including extreme temperatures, hot and cold, and wet and/or humid conditions. The work environment may include exposure to drafts, noise, dust, grease, and traffic.


    Tasks require ability to lift/push/pull/ and/or move up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally more than 50 pounds with mechanical or manual assistance, and typically involve some combination of walking, sitting, or standing for extended periods of time, walking, balancing, climbing, bending, crawling, crouching, feeling, handling, hearing, kneeling, reaching, repetitive motion, and mental and visual acuity.
